SERPISTAN Web Desgin & SEO Agency
For this UK garage door specialist, we rebuilt category visibility from the ground up — turning a niche product range into a search presence spanning the entire buying journey.
This client supplies and installs a wide range of garage doors — side-hinged, sliding, sectional, and more — for homeowners across the UK. It’s a considered purchase category where product-type terms carry as much weight as the brand name itself.
The brand ranked reasonably for its own name, but broader category terms like “garage doors” and “sliding garage door” were scattered across page two and three. With dozens of near-identical product configurations, the site’s architecture wasn’t giving Google a clean way to differentiate one door type from another — impressions were high, but clicks weren’t following.
We restructured the site’s category taxonomy around the actual door types people search for, cleaned up thin and duplicate product pages competing against each other, and built out dedicated landing pages for each configuration — side-hinged, sliding, sectional — with content written around installation, sizing, and material questions real buyers ask before they commit.
The client now pulls 9.59K clicks from 2.08M impressions. The standout shift is in product-specific terms: “sliding garage door” and “sliding garage doors” both rank inside the top 5, while the flagship branded term holds position 4.8 — proof the category pages are now doing real work.

| Keyword | Clicks | Avg Position (Worldwide) |
|---|---|---|
| [Branded term] | 418 | 4.8 |
| side hinged garage doors | 225 | 7.9 |
| garage doors | 210 | 29.8 |
| sliding garage door | 158 | 3.2 |
| sliding garage doors | 145 | 4.5 |
Garage door shopping is a specification problem before it’s a brand problem — buyers know roughly what they need before they know who to buy it from. A generic “garage doors” landing page can’t answer a sliding-door question or a side-hinged one equally well, and Google knows it.
By splitting the category into dedicated, well-differentiated pages, we gave the site a shot at ranking for each configuration on its own terms, instead of asking one page to compete for all of them at once. That’s exactly what happened — sliding door terms now sit inside the top 5, well ahead of the broader “garage doors” query, which remains the next frontier at position 29.8.
With the architecture in place, every new configuration page added from here compounds the same effect — more precise pages, more precise rankings.
